SHC and polytechnics ink MoU for palliative care needs in Singapore

The initiative aligns with the MOH’s National Strategy for Palliative Care.

The Singapore Hospice Council (SHC), Temasek Polytechnic, Republic Polytechnic, and Ngee Ann Polytechnic have signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to address palliative care needs in the country.

The initiative is in line with the Ministry of Health’s (MOH) National Strategy for Palliative Care (NSPC) which aims to develop a supportive environment through sustained community engagement.

Meanwhile, the collaboration is set to establish joint initiatives such as student internship programmes, industry sharing, and curriculum development amongst other projects in palliative care.

“Palliative care is an approach that enhances the quality of life for patients, young and old, who are coping with life-limiting illnesses and their loved ones,” Minister of State at MOH, Rahayu Mahzam, said.

“As part of our national push for palliative care, we are actively bolstering our national palliative care capacity and we welcome everyone with interest whether to serve as healthcare professionals or volunteers,” Mahzam added.
