Singapore launches new centre for enhanced pain management
The centre will focus on treatments for patients with acute and chronic pain.
SingHealth unveiled a new centre that is focused on enhancing the management and treatment of patients with acute and chronic pain.
In a statement, SingHealth said the SingHealth Duke-NUS Pain Centre (SPDC) initiative is focused on reducing the burden of pain, restoring function, and optimising the overall journey for pain patients through integrating medical, physical, and psychological strategies.
The centre will provide treatment across SingHealth cluster hospitals, community outreach teams, and polyclinics whilst being run by multi-disciplinary teams.

In addition, treatment will cover areas, including pain medicine, palliative care, rehabilitation medicine, and physiotherapy.
The SDPC was officially launched at the 25th Annual Scientific Meeting of Singapore General Hospital and was witnessed by the Minister of State for Health, Janil Puthucheary.
