UAE-led diabetes research initiative launches in space
A four-member crew will test continuous glucose monitors in microgravity.
A UAE-led research on insulin-dependent diabetes mellitus has launched into space as part of the Axiom Mission 4, which took off from the National Aeronautics and Space Administration’s Kennedy Space Center in Florida.
The Suite Ride initiative will see a four-member international crew spend 14 days on the International Space Station, conducting various microgravity experiments and technology demonstrations.
The crew will test continuous glucose monitors to evaluate their performance and reliability in a microgravity environment.
The study is a collaboration between Abu Dhabi-headquartered Burjeel Holdings and Axiom Space.
