Acute pain market seen rising 12% annually on surgical demand

It was valued at $4.5b in 2025.

The global acute pain treatment market is projected to grow at a 12% compound annual growth rate through 2036, driven by rising surgical volumes.

DelveInsight report sai the market was valued at $4.5b across the seven major markets—the US, Germany, France, Italy, Spain, the UK, Japan—in 2025.

A parallel shift away from opioids, driven by addiction and misuse concerns, has pushed hospitals toward multimodal analgesia protocols.

This combines drug classes and non-drug techniques, alongside a wave of non-opioid drugs now entering late-stage development.

The US holds the largest share of the total market. Incident cases across the 7MM totalled roughly 181 million in 2025, with the US alone accounting for about 87.4 million.
