Bioinformatics market set to hit $34.41b on genomics boom

Asia Pacific is expected to register the highest growth rate.

The global bioinformatics market is projected to grow to $34.41b by 2031, driven by rising next-generation sequencing adoption, expanding biotech and pharma sectors, and government-backed genomics initiatives.

By function, the bioinformatics services segment is projected to post the highest compound annual growth rate at 14.8%.

Multi-omics integration is also expected to be amongst the fastest-growing segments, reflecting increased use of artificial intelligence and machine learning in combining genomic, proteomic and metabolomic data.

By application, drug discovery and development held the largest share of the market in 2025, at 34%.

By end user, pharmaceutical and biotechnology companies represented the largest segment, with growth attributed to expanded use of bioinformatics in target validation, molecular modelling, and lead optimisation.

North America accounted for the largest share, 42.2%, of the global bioinformatics market in 2025, whilst Asia Pacific is expected to register the highest growth rate over the forecast period.
