NPM programme to sequence 10,000 genomes for precision healthcare

The programme will utilise Oxford Nanopore’s PromethION 48 sequencing devices.

The National Precision Medicine (NPM) programme, led by Precision Health Research, Singapore (PRECISE), is partnering with Oxford Nanopore Technologies to sequence 10,000 genomes from the nation’s diverse population.

The project commenced in the middle of the year and will run for the next 12 months to develop a comprehensive structural variant catalogue for Singapore’s Chinese, Malay, and Indian ethnicities.

To realise this, the programme will utilise Oxford Nanopore’s PromethION 48 sequencing devices.

The platform is capable of sequencing short and ultra-long DNA/RNA fragments and detecting methylation, crucial for identifying genetic variations and understanding complex diseases.
