Australia begins construction of $861m Toowoomba Hospital in Queensland
The project is part of the Miles Labor Government’s $9b (AU$14b) “Health Big Build” initiative.
Australia has commenced the construction of the new $861m (AU$1.3b) Toowoomba Hospital at the Baillie Henderson Hospital campus for the growing Darling Downs community.
The project is part of the Miles Labor Government’s $9b (AU$14b) investment under Queensland’s Big Build initiative.
The new hospital is set to feature additional emergency treatment spaces, including medical imaging, pharmacy and pathology services.
In addition, the new facility is planned to deliver administration, education and training facilities for its hospital staff.

“Each year we see almost 160,000 people through our emergency departments, over 230,000 outpatient appointments, and almost 3,000 babies born at Darling Downs Health.” Dennis Campbell, Darling Downs Health Board Chair, said.
“The New Toowoomba Hospital will increase our capacity and capability in providing care to our diverse communities,” Campbell added.
The hospital is expected to reach completion in the second half of 2027.
