AI integration in medtech vital in enhancing patient care
Healthcare is expected to be a major driver of AI by 2030.
With 90% of data created in hospitals being left unused, it will be critical for the sector to incorporate artificial intelligence (AI) in their system for more efficient operations and improved patient outcomes, according to GlobalData.
“AI solutions have the potential to automate repetitive administrative tasks and optimise workflows, thereby reducing the strain on physicians. This, in turn, would enable them to focus on what they do best—developing the patient-doctor bond and providing quality healthcare service,” said Joselia Carlos, senior medical device analyst at GlobalData.
GlobalData’s Thematic Intelligence report on AI in Healthcare found that sector is seen to become a major driver of the AI market’s explosive growth by 2030. From its 2023 value of $103b, the market is projected to expand at a compound annual growth rate of 39%, surpassing $1t by 2030.
From automating data entry and real-time documentation to leveraging predictive analytics for resource allocation, AI can enhance operational efficiency, allowing physicians to focus on direct patient care.
Eliminating such tasks can also lead to higher job satisfaction amongst healthcare professionals and improved patient outcomes, GlobalData said.
