Smart rings to emerge as key health monitoring devices

However, its adoption poses concerns about cybersecurity risks.

Smart rings are expected to become key consumer-focused health monitoring devices, driven by their convenience and integration into users' lifestyles, according to BMI.

Investment and research and development in the sector are projected to rise, highlighted by Ultrahuman's securing of $35m in Series B funding to enhance its health-tracking technology.

“Additionally, RingConn, another key player focused on developing accurate and ergonomic smart rings, is actively pursuing FDA approval for sleep apnea detection,” the report said.

However, its adoption poses concerns about cybersecurity risks. Wearable devices, including smart rings, face challenges such as the potential for unauthorised access to sensitive personal health data.

“Third-party applications and integrations may not adhere to the same stringent security standards, introducing additional vulnerabilities, particularly when the data is personal health information,” it added.
