Qatar Ministry opens healthcare rules to private providers
This gives private providers a voice to shape Qatar’s healthcare.
Qatar’s Ministry of Public Health has launched a Stakeholder Engagement Portal in the Health Sector and opened its Second Forum on Regulating Healthcare in the Private Health Sector, allowing private providers to review draft regulations and submit input on policy development.
The Ministry said in a press release that the portal allows healthcare providers and stakeholders to access draft health regulations, contribute to their development, and receive regulatory updates.
It said the system is intended to support transparency and participation in healthcare regulation.
Mansoor bin Ebrahim Al Mahmoud, Minister of Public Health, said the Ministry aims to maintain quality, safety, and transparency across all healthcare facilities, adding that the private healthcare sector forms a key part of healthcare delivery in Qatar.
He said the Ministry seeks to increase the role of the private sector in healthcare provision and is updating regulatory frameworks in line with sector growth, whilst working with stakeholders across government and industry to support regulatory development.
The Ministry is using digital solutions, artificial intelligence technologies, and integrated data systems to improve healthcare system efficiency, support risk detection, and improve decision-making.
The forum brought together senior officials from the Ministries of Public Health, Commerce and Industry, and Labour, along with representatives from the Qatar Chamber and private healthcare providers.
Ghanim Ali Al Mannai, Assistant Undersecretary for Healthcare Regulatory Affairs, said in a presentation that initiatives are underway to expand the role of the private healthcare sector.
This includes updates to legal frameworks, operational systems, and programmes to streamline procedures and strengthen service delivery.
The forum included a discussion session between regulators and private healthcare representatives on collaboration, operational challenges, and healthcare system development.
The Ministry said it will continue holding the forum on a regular basis as part of efforts to develop the healthcare system with public and private sector participation.
