Philippines’ Healthway Medical Network claims top accolades at Healthcare Asia Awards 2026
The facility showcased excellence in patient care and innovative public–private partnership.
Healthway Medical Network on Thursday received top recognitions—Patient Care Initiative of the Year - Philippines and Public–Private Healthcare Partnership of the Year - Philippines—at the Healthcare Asia Awards 2026.
Healthway’s coordinated cancer care programme at the Philippines’ first and only cancer specialty hospital was recognised for its holistic, patient-centred approach. The initiative was launched at the Healthway Cancer Care Hospital in May 2025 as a facility-wide, end-to-end patient navigation programme — the first of its kind in the country — designed to guide patients and families through every step of care.
Under the programme, patients have weekly tele-navigation check-ins for symptom monitoring, care coordination, appointment facilitation, and access to hospital and community resources. The programme addresses a major pain point in a cancer patient’s journey, eliminating the burden of coordinating care themselves, and reducing the stress of moving from one facility to another.
The Healthway Cancer Care Hospital (HCCH) is home to a dedicated department for Quality of Life and Survivorship, which was founded on the belief that better cancer care must extend beyond treatment alone. Integrated into HCCH’s multidisciplinary model of care, the department supports patients across the broader demands of the cancer journey – from symptom relief and physical strength to daily functioning, overall well-being, recovery, and rebuilding life well beyond treatment. HCCH Cares is one of the programmes under this department.
Dr Manuel Francisco Roxas, Chief Operating Officer of Healthway Cancer Care Hospital, said the programme reflects HCCH’s broader commitment to elevating the standard of oncology care in the Philippines. “HCCH Cares reflects our belief that cancer care must be more coordinated, more human, and more complete. At HCCH, we are building a new standard of care — one that supports patients not only through treatment, but across the full journey, with multidisciplinary expertise, seamless navigation, and stronger quality-of-life support.”
Collaborative expansion of patient access through partnerships
Healthway was also recognised for its successful private–public partnership on expanding access to dialysis care with Valenzuela City, which upgraded the Valenzuela Emergency Hospital and built a state-of-the-art Ambulatory Care Centre. The collaboration combined the Valenzuela City Government’s strategic infrastructure programme with Healthway’s high standards of care and clinical expertise. It increased the city’s capacity to cater to lifesaving dialysis sessions, whilst also shortening wait times for eligible patients and making sure that the needed care is within reach.
The success of this partnership model has already become a scalable template for cities and provinces alike. Recently, Healthway entered a PPP arrangement with Iloilo Provincial Government to build 13 dialysis centres in provincial and district hospitals across the province, expanding access beyond the confines of the city. Beyond dialysis, the Healthway - Valenzuela partnership will soon expand to an upcoming Ambulatory Surgical Centre, providing accessible outpatient care and chemotherapy services to more patients in Valenzuela.
Jef Peeters, President and Chief Executive Officer of Healthway Medical Network, said the partnership demonstrates the impact of aligned public and private sector efforts. “This recognition affirms the power of public-private collaboration in transforming healthcare delivery for every Filipino. Our partnership with the Valenzuela City Government demonstrates what is possible when shared purpose meets strong execution—expanding access to high-quality, life-saving ambulatory care for more Filipinos. We are deeply grateful for the trust of our government partners and remain committed to building sustainable healthcare systems that serve communities with compassion, efficiency, and excellence.”
These recognitions reinforce how Healthway Medical Network continues to play a critical role within AC Health’s broader mission to transform health for every Filipino. By advancing more coordinated, patient-centred care and forging impactful public–private partnerships that expand access to life-saving services, Healthway is helping build a more integrated and inclusive healthcare system—one that delivers better outcomes, improves patient experience, and ensures that quality care is within reach for more communities across the country.
