South Korea, Mongolia strike fresh deal on health cooperation

They will cooperate on healthcare delivery systems, among other areas.

South Korea and Mongolia have signed a revised memorandum of understanding (MOU) on health cooperation as part of President Lee Jae-myung’s state visit to Mongolia.

Under the MOU, the two countries will cooperate in several major areas, including healthcare delivery systems, management of noncommunicable diseases, artificial intelligence-based digital healthcare, and advanced regenerative medicine.

In cancer control and research, Korea’s National Cancer Centre and Mongolia’s National Cancer Centre also signed an MOU, aiming to reduce cancer mortality.

The two institutions agreed to expand cooperation in basic research, cancer prevention and screening, and clinical research, as well as people-to-people exchanges.

“The revised MoU between Korea’s Ministry of Health and Welfare and Mongolia’s Ministry of Health opens a renewed opportunity to strengthen government-funded patient referrals, cancer control, training for healthcare professionals, and market entry into Mongolia by Korean pharmaceutical and medical device companies,” South Korea’s Minister of Health and Welfare Jeong Eun Kyeong said.
