Rising chronic illness drives point of care testing market to $31b mark
Asia Pacific is poised to see the strongest expansion.
The global point-of-care diagnostics market is projected to grow to $31.46b by 2031, driven by rising cases of diabetes, cardiovascular disease, respiratory illnesses, and chronic kidney disorders.
In a new report, MarketsandMarkets said glucose monitoring products held the largest segment share in 2025, at 34.8% of the market.
This was due to demand for regular blood glucose testing across hospitals, clinics, pharmacies and home-care settings.
The home care and self-testing segment alone was valued at $6.9b in 2025.
Clinical laboratories accounted for the largest share by end user in 2025, given their role in high-volume testing for infectious diseases, glucose monitoring and coagulation disorders.
Regionally, China is expected to post the fastest growth, with a compound annual growth of 11.1% through the forecast period.
Meanwhile, Asia Pacific is set to see the strongest expansion, supported by an ageing population, rising chronic and infectious disease burden, and expanding healthcare infrastructure and government initiatives.
