New Zealand unveils 10-year Health Digital Investment Plan

It will include the rollout of a single electronic medical record system.

The New Zealand Government has unveiled the country’s first Health Digital Investment Plan, a 10-year strategy to modernise healthcare through targeted technology investments.

The plan will be delivered in three phases, according to Health Minister Simeon Brown.

It will include the rollout of a single electronic medical record system to enable the sharing of medical information between general practitioners, specialists, and hospitals.

In addition, the programme will provide funding for patient monitoring to support earlier discharges, a national radiology system, and improved cybersecurity measures.

The government will also establish the Centre for Digital Modernisation of Health, a collaboration between Health New Zealand and delivery partners.
