NHCS performs ‘first-in-Singapore’ procedure for heart failure patients
The new technique uses a balloon and stent to clear blockages in LVADs.
The National Heart Centre Singapore has introduced a ‘first-in-Singapore’ percutaneous procedure to treat complications in Left Ventricular Assist Devices (LVADs).
The new technique uses a balloon and stent to clear blockages in LVADs through a small skin incision, eliminating the need for major surgery.
The centre said the procedure significantly reduces the risk of infection, shortens recovery time, and improves survival rates for patients with LVADs.
