Australian gov’t invests $13.8m in primary care research

The investment will support seven projects across the country’s leading universities.

The Australian government has allocated over $13.8m (A$22m) to fund primary care research.

The investment, drawn from the Medical Research Future Fund, will support seven projects across the country’s leading universities.

The projects will tackle key challenges such as enhancing primary care for older populations and those residing in remote and regional areas, along with promoting digital health.

“Improving primary care in Australia is something we should always be doing. So we are funding this research to make the system more accessible, equitable and efficient,” said Mark Butler, Minister for Health and Aged Care.
