ZP Therapeutics earns dual accolades at the Healthcare Asia Pharma Awards

The commercialisation division of Zuellig Pharma claims the Most Differentiated Service of the Year and Outcomes-based Contracting Model of the Year titles.

In recent years, the emphasis on preventive health and access to healthcare information, education, and products has grown significantly. The COVID-19 pandemic also underscored the necessity for vaccines and over-the-counter medications, and the importance of equal access to these resources.

ZP Therapeutics, a Zuellig Pharma division, is the go-to commercialisation partner for Asia's healthcare industry, offering innovative solutions to the healthcare community and expanding patient access. This year, ZP Therapeutics was honoured with the Most Differentiated Service of the Year and Outcomes-based Contracting Model of the Year awards at the Healthcare Asia Pharma Awards.

The awards programme celebrates exceptional achievements and groundbreaking advancements from healthcare organisations across Asia.

Collaborating with major Singapore pharmacies, ZP Therapeutics implemented a comprehensive omnichannel campaign with a targeted communication strategy, hosting select retail pharmacist education sessions on Betadine Oral and Throat Care products' benefits and usage for early self-treatment of upper respiratory tract infections and oral health improvement. Approximately 2.5 million consumers were reached through this initiative, in particular those concerned about their own and their families’ well-being.

In addition, the campaign utilised social media for targeted community outreach, raising awareness of the importance of early treatment for respiratory diseases and available solutions through the "Ask the Pharmacists" series, lifestyle-based branded posts, as well as thematic displays in-store and online.

This initiative was particularly important given the evolving nature of COVID-19, which has heightened consumer awareness of preventive health and self-treatment with over-the-counter medications. Furthermore, Singapore's high vaccination rate and relaxed safety measures have increased in-person contact, boosting demand for cold and flu remedies as people interact more regularly.

ZP Therapeutics' efforts to expand healthcare information and solution access through such marketing partnerships resulted in three notable achievements: significant sales growth outpacing the category in 2022, market share growth despite new category entrants and supply chain challenges, and increased brand association with preventive health and early self-treatment, elevating top-of-mind awareness and driving retail pharmacist recommendations.

The division also facilitated COVID-19 vaccine access to patients across multiple Asian countries and regions. Leveraging its longstanding expertise and capabilities in the region, ZP therapeutics contributed to vital national vaccination efforts that promoted post-pandemic recovery.

ZP Therapeutics collaborated with healthcare industry stakeholders to expedite access to the Moderna COVID-19 vaccine in various Asian markets and worked with local authorities to accelerate the regulatory approval for its emergency use.

Zuellig Pharma's Distribution business unit provided temperature-controlled environments for vaccine delivery and invested in additional cold chain infrastructure to meet the storage requirements of different COVID-19 vaccines.

ZP Therapeutics also actively engaged with the medical community through various platforms such as advisory boards, webinars and lectures to keep healthcare professionals informed of the latest scientific developments and promote cross-country exchanges. It also worked with government bodies and communications agencies to raise public awareness of the urgency for vaccination.

These efforts led to three key accomplishments: supporting government pandemic response through vaccination, accelerating regulatory approval of vaccines, especially for Omicron-specific variants, and increasing vaccination rates through enhanced medical education and public awareness.
