St. Vincent’s Hospital Melbourne’s ACMD building completes structural phase

The establishment will include 3D printing facilities and a human kinetics lab.

St. Vincent’s Hospital Melbourne (SVHM) has announced the structural completion of the 11-storey Aikenhead Centre for Medical Discovery (ACMD) for biomedical engineering research.

The new building is set to include 3D printing laboratories, a human kinetics laboratory, insulated rooms for the development of sensitive hearing and vision technologies, and engineering workshops to produce medical device prototypes and robotics.

Moreover, the centre will support collaborations between clinician-researchers, scientists, and engineers in the fields of medtech, biotech, and digital health.

Meanwhile, the building’s next construction stage involves the installation of the curtain wall facade, followed by its internal fit-out.
