NSW allocates $975,000 for Albury Wodonga health facility upgrades

Chunk will be used to purchase new surgical equipment.

The New South Wales (NSW) Government has set aside $975,000 to upgrade health equipment and facilities at Albury Wodonga Health.

According to authorities, this is part of the $12m investment of the Minns Labor Government under the Regional Health Minor Works Program. This is also on top of the NSW, Victorian, and Australian Governments’ $558m commitment to the Albury Wodonga Regional Hospital project.

Broken down, $245,000 will be used to upgrade three theatre tables and one orthopaedic frame at the Albury Campus; $225,000 for new dishwasher and blast chillers in the kitchen at the Albury Campus; $215,000 to replace ovens in both kitchens at the Albury and Wodonga Campuses; $200,000 for new pan sanitisers across both Albury and Wodonga Campuses; $80,000 to purchase an additional laryngoscope and software for the Speech Pathology Service; and $10,000 to purchase a bariatric treadmill for the Community Rehabilitation and Physiotherapy Gym at the Albury Campus.

Once completed, the project will consolidate complex acute care services, improving patient safety, reducing service duplication, and eliminating the need for urgent travel between Wodonga and Albury hospitals.

“Investments like this play a vital role in keeping our facilities safe and contemporary, supporting the core operations of healthcare delivery,” said Albury Wodonga Health CEO Bill Appleby.

“It’s important that we keep investing to ensure our services remain strong and capable of meeting the ongoing needs of our community,” he added.
