MOH to review healthcare financing schemes
MOH will expand the MediShield Life coverage and provide more subsidies to community hospitals.
In light of the rising healthcare costs due to the ageing population, MOH reviews healthcare financing schemes to maintain healthcare accessibility and affordability.
The MOH seeks to expand the coverage of the MediShield Life insurance plan.
Coverage expansion includes refreshing claim limits for inpatient and day surgery treatments to cover nine in 10 subsidised bills and enhancing outpatient coverage.
It also seeks to expand coverage for new treatments such as Cell, Tissue, and Gene Therapy Products (CTGTPs).

To support lower income individuals and those who may not have enough MediSave balances, MOH will also review premium subsidies and other support measures.
The MediShield Life Council has started the reviewing process and will finalise their recommendations in 2H2024.
In addition, the MOH will also expand subsidy coverage to more diagnostic services and drugs at community hospitals.
This expansion will be completed in phases, starting with diagnostic services in 4Q2024, to drugs supported under the Medication Assistance Fund in 1H2025, to benefit over 5,000 community hospital and rehabilitative care patients.
