The majority says cost-of-living crisis is biggest barrier to staying healthy
Nearly half are expecting a healthcare cost increase in the next three months.
More than six in 10 (64%) Singaporeans said the rising inflation is making it too expensive to be healthy, findings from Cigna Healthcare report revealed.
Almost half of the respondents are expecting healthcare expenses to increase in the next three months and 40% saw an increase in the previous period.
The majority of respondents consider their ability to meet their own or their family’s medical needs as only “fair” (55%) or even “poor” (17%), which shows a lack of confidence amongst Singaporeans when managing the rise in medical costs.
Other findings include a third of respondents in the nation (33%) reported difficulty in getting a fast appointment with a doctor when they are sick.
One in five (22%) found it challenging to get care at night and during weekends or holidays.
When it comes to the experience of medical care, one in five (22%) said it was challenging to find a healthcare practitioner they can trust. A similar number (21%) felt their practitioner has not been listening to them.
