IHH Healthcare unveils proton therapy centre for cancer treatment
The Mount Elizabeth Proton Therapy Centre offers specialised cancer treatment in Singapore.
IHH Healthcare has announced the official launch of a proton therapy centre in Mount Elizabeth Novena Hospital (MNH) for specialised treatment for cancer patients.
The Mount Elizabeth Proton Therapy Centre in Singapore offers patients access to specialised cancer treatment, such as advanced radiation therapy.
“Up to half of all oncology patients require some form of radiation treatment but the side effects of treatment can be as debilitating as the cancer itself,” Peter Chow, chief executive officer of IHH Healthcare Singapore, said.

“Patients suited to undergo proton therapy will benefit from fewer side effects and damage to surrounding tissues due to the targeted nature of the proton beam,” Chow added.
Before its official launch, the facility began operations on 10 May 2023.
In a statement by the group, half of the centre’s patients were from Singapore, with the remainder from Southeast Asia, and a small portion of patients from the US, Canada, and the UK.
