Gleneagles scales Johor operations as medical tourism jumps 66%

The hospital's medical tourist arrivals rose by 66% in 2025.

Gleneagles Hospital Johor has opened an International Lounge to support its growing number of Indonesian patients and to accommodate rising cross-border healthcare demand in Johor.

In 2025, medical tourist arrivals increased by 66%, the hospital said. Over 20,000 Indonesian patients have received treatment at the facility since 2022.

Meanwhile, the new facility adds capacity to manage international patient volumes.

Deputy CEO of Gleneagles Hospital Johor Sipika Singh said the facility supports the hospital’s role within Malaysia’s medical tourism framework and is aimed at improving service coordination for international patients.

The opening coincides with Gleneagles Hospital Johor’s 10th year of operations, she added.

The lounge was launched by YB Datuk Seri Dzulkefly Ahmad, Minister of Health Malaysia, with medical executives from the hospital and Malaysia attending.
