FV Hospital uses shockwave tech for hardened arteries
IVL is integrated into a coronary intervention workflow.
Vietnam’s FV Hospital has performed two coronary interventions using intravascular lithotripsy (IVL), a technology that utilises ultrasound shockwaves for arterial calcification.
IVL is integrated into a coronary intervention workflow, supported by diagnostic and navigation tools, including intravascular ultrasound and optical coherence tomography.
The procedure breaks up hard deposits in deep or severely narrowed parts of the arteries, according to the hospital.
The shockwaves delivered by the IVL balloon target hardened structures, allowing the artery to expand and enabling stent placement.
