Australia’s SVHM adopts new system for same-day discharge spinal surgery
This includes a spinal endoscopic tower, an intraoperative CT scanner, and a 3D camera system.
St Vincent’s Hospital Melbourne has introduced a new suite of equipment enabling surgeons to conduct same-day discharge spinal surgery.
The surgical system includes a spinal endoscopic tower, an intraoperative CT scanner, and a 3D camera system for customised body imaging during operations.
The spinal endoscopic tower utilises a high-definition camera for precise, magnified views of the spine. This allows targeted treatment with minimal disruption to surrounding tissue for less postoperative pain and faster recovery times.
Initially, the navigation tower will be used for minimally invasive spinal surgeries on patients with conditions such as herniated discs, spinal nerve compression, and sciatica.
