Australian gov’t unveils designs for $587m Melton Hospital
The project is slated for completion in 2029.
The Australian government in Victoria has revealed the latest designs for the $587m (A$900m) new Melton Hospital.
Key features of the designs include a main entrance, facade, and patient rooms that prioritise natural light, outdoor access, and green spaces.
Scheduled for completion in 2029, the facility is set to become Australia’s first all-electric hospital with the capacity to treat 130,000 patients annually, with almost 60,000 expected to visit its emergency department.
It is expected to alleviate pressure on other Melbourne hospitals, reducing waiting times and providing vital support to nearby facilities such as Sunshine Hospital and the new $980m (A$1.5b) Footscray Hospital.
