Australian gov’t invests $9.8m in NSW Royal Flying Doctor Service
The funding supports the Rural Aerial Health Service.
The Australian government is set to invest an additional $9.8m (A$15m) in the Royal Flying Doctor Service (RFDS) as part of the 2025–26 NSW Budget.
The new allocation adds to the existing support the government provides to the RFDS. These include the Rural Aerial Health Service, which flies clinicians to remote locations to provide care.
The funding also supports inter-hospital transfers from air bases in Dubbo and Broken Hill for patients in critical condition, and non-emergency patient transport services linking public hospitals and health facilities.
It further supports the operation of RFDS clinics providing general medical care, oral health services, and alcohol and other drug treatment in Far West New South Wales.
