Australian gov’t invests $190m in health and medical research
Part of the investment includes an allocation of $173.4m (A$274m) to 223 researchers.
The Australian government has announced a $190m (A$300m) investment to support innovative health and medical research targeting some of the country’s most pressing health challenges.
Under the National Health and Medical Research Council (NHMRC) ‘Ideas Grants scheme’, $173.4m (A$274m) will be allocated to 223 researchers and their teams.
Meanwhile, $10.1m (A$16m) will be directed through the NHMRC’s ‘Development Grants scheme’, which focuses on the commercialisation of research.
Furthermore, $6.3m (A$10m) will be provided through the ‘Postgraduate Scholarship scheme’, offering funding to the next generation of health and medical graduates.
