Australia invests $199.3m in regional, rural, and remote aged care

Round 3 of ACCAP will fund a total of 66 infrastructure projects.

The Australian Government is investing $199.3m (A$300m) in the latest round of the Aged Care Capital Assistance Program (ACCAP) for regional, rural, and remote aged care.

Round 3 of ACCAP will fund a total of 66 infrastructure projects to upgrade or build new aged care homes and provide staff accommodation.

The selected projects are expected to add 315 new or reopened aged care beds.

Approximately $57.8m (A$87m) will be allocated across 12 projects to support more older Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people. Meanwhile, $33.9m (A$51m) will be invested in a new 94-bed residential care home in Broken Hill.

The Government will also release an ‘expression of interest’ in October to identify a provider to partner in establishing a new 120-bed residential care home in Darwin.
