Australia invests $1.4m to connect more patients to cancer nurses
The ‘Find My Nurse’ tool will include information on specialist cancer nurses.
The Australian government is set to invest $1.4m (A$2.3m) in the McGrath Foundation over the next two years to expand its ‘Find My Nurse’ online tool, which connects patients with cancer nurses.
The tool will include information on all specialist nurses employed in hospitals, community services, and the broader cancer sector, including Commonwealth-funded and other McGrath Cancer Care Nurses, said Mark Butler, Minister for Health and Aged Care.
“This expanded tool will be so valuable to cancer patients and their families and will be located at mcgrathfoundation.com.au,” Butler added.
Meanwhile, the foundation is also developing a new McGrath Model of Care in collaboration with the cancer sector.
The initiative is designed to support patients throughout all stages of their cancer journey.
