Australia begins $74m redevelopment of Angliss Hospital
The four-storey building is expected to be completed in 2026.
Australia has announced that redevelopment works worth $74m (A$112m) have begun for Angliss Hospital in Victoria.
The project includes a new four-storey building with a 32-bed inpatient unit, four operating theatres, an upgraded sterile supply department, and spaces for outpatient service.
“This massive expansion will deliver more beds, an expanded outpatient unit, and four new operating theatres - making sure residents in the outer east region can continue to access the best possible care now and into the future.” Mary-Anne Thomas, Minister for Health Infrastructure, said.
Moreover, the redeveloped hospital will be an all-electric building for reduced emissions and impact on the surrounding environment.
Slated for completion in 2026, construction crews will begin main works, starting with the demolition of the site’s old East block.
