Abu Dhabi’s value-based initiative incentivises care quality

The programme will initially focus on fertility services.

The Department of Health – Abu Dhabi (DoH) has launched a value-based healthcare initiative that incentivises healthcare providers based on the quality of care delivered.

The programme will initially focus on facilities offering fertility services, with the DoH providing additional incentives for meeting set performance goals within a specified timeframe.

“Fertility services were chosen as the starting point given their strategic importance to public health and the profound impact they have on families,” said Noura Al Ghaithi, Undersecretary of the DoH – Abu Dhabi.

Currently, the emirate houses 14 fertility centres and over 2,800 healthcare professionals in obstetrics and gynaecology.

Meanwhile, the initiative will expand to other clinical areas in subsequent phases.
