Australia acquires Calvary Public Hospital for Canberra Health
The hospital's services will remain unaffected amidst its transition to CHS.
The Australian government has announced the acquisition of Calvary Public Hospital allowing its transition to Canberra Health Services (CHS) from 3 July onwards.
A comprehensive transition period will be followed during which Calvary Public Hospital’s services will remain unaffected.
The move enables better coordination of health services, more effective distribution of resources, and strengthened workforce capacity for improved health outcomes in the Canberra community.
Meanwhile, the acquisition coincides with the government’s $666m (A$1b) development of the Northside Hospital on the existing campus at Bruce, replacing an ageing foundation.
The new facility is part of the increased investment in healthcare infrastructure, services, and staffing needed to meet the territory’s growing needs.
