All Singaporean private hospitals commit to NEHR health data system
The MOH is also preparing to pass the Health Information Bill in Parliament next year.
The Ministry of Health (MOH) has announced that nine private hospitals in Singapore have committed to sharing patient health data with the National Electronic Health Record (NEHR) for improved exchange across public and private sectors.
The hospitals have also committed to working with the ministry and Synapxe to ensure that their management systems are ready to be integrated with NEHR and contribute health information in 2025.
Stringent cybersecurity measures are required for all NEHR contributors, including regular system updates, cybersecurity training for staff, and incident reporting.
The NEHR, established in 2011, is a centralised database for essential health information and is currently used by polyclinics, private GP clinics under Healthier SG, and public hospitals.
The MOH is also preparing to introduce the Health Information Bill in Parliament next year, which will mandate nationwide NEHR participation and set guidelines for secure data handling across the healthcare sector.
