Manila Doctors Hospital CFO to talk about the importance of cost leadership for hospitals

Larry Tenorio believes the ultimate benefit must go to the patient.

With 20 years of banking experience, Larry joined Manila Doctors Hospital as head of financial accounting focused on effective cost management. Larry has also held several positions which prepared him for his foray into the healthcare space, including vice president/controllership group at Metropolitan Bank and Trust company, one of the largest banks in Southeast Asia.

Residing in the Philippines, Larry also has notable speaking experience under his belt, being invited as a speaker by the Philippine Society of Quality Healthcare, the Hospital Executive Society of the Philippines and his alma mater, the University of the Philippines-Manila.

Larry is part of the panel that will talk about the topic Philippine Healthcare: Growing through investment at the Manila leg of the upcoming inaugural Healthcare Asia Forum 2016. Here’s more about Larry:

HCA: What are your previous experiences and positions held that contributed to who you are today as a healthcare practitioner?

My experience in banking for a period of more than twenty years, in terms of Control and Effective cost management is a plus factor. I joined Manila Doctors, first as Head of Financial Accounting. Thorough evaluation of the Financial Statements is a good start to understand fully the financial structure of the healthcare institution.

HCA: What are your key healthcare philosophies and ideologies?

It includes quality patient care, affordable and accessible. Everybody deserves good health, and it is their basic rights as an individual. The Controller, or the Finance people is responsible to make all these services viable and available at all times.

HCA: Can you give us a glimpse of what you will talk about at the 2016 Healthcare Asia Forum?

As a member of the panel, anything goes. It depends on the flow of discussion. There must be emphasis on cost leadership. Nowadays, investors tend to work on a hospital as a group for a better bargaining when it comes to supply chain, (bulk procurement), effective management and lesser overhead cost. The ultimate benefit goes to the patient.
