Bumrungrad International Hospital- Thailand bags the Healthcare Asia Awards 2018 for Hospital of the Year

Bumrungrad International Hospital's outstanding reputation in providing high quality medical care is well known. In the same year, Bumrungrad became the first hospital in Asia to be DNV GL MIR Certified, a DNV GL’s Managing Infection Risk Standard, and became the first non-US hospital to earn Global Healthcare Accreditation with Excellence designation from GHA. The latter is recognition that the hospital has treatment and care of international quality and safety standards for overseas patients traveling to Bumrungrad International Hospital for treatment and care. Because of this, Bumrungrad International Hospital won the Healthcare Asia Awards 2018 for Hospital of the Year.

The hospital has also been recognised by ontoplists.com as the world's ninth best hospital particularly in the field of medical tourism. Bumrungrad is one of the most popular hospital for medical tourism, serving 520,000 international patients every year. Ontoplists cited Bumrungrad's "internal atmosphere and luxury of a Five Star Hotel" as well as its in-house travel agency that manages visa extensions and interpreters to serve its international patients.

In order achieve optimum results, Bumrungrad International Hospital makes use of strengths and expertise of health professionals from various fields. It has set up teams comprising well-experienced medical doctors, nurses, pharmacists, physical therapists, nutritionists, medical technologists, and other professional staff, with their own specialties, to work together smoothly to provide quality treatment and care and satisfactory treatment results. At present Bumrungrad International Hospital has over 1,300 medical doctors and over 4,800 people in various departments work for the hospital.

Another example is CardioInsight, a completely non-invasive technology for diagnosing heart arrhythmias. In addition, Bumrungrad International Hospital makes use of the GE 3 Tesla MRI, the latest state-of-the-art imaging scanner. This new scanner provides images with better resolution as well as operates with less noise.

The Healthcare Asia Awards 2018 was held on 23 May 2018 at the Conrad Centennial Singapore.

This year's nominations were judged by a panel consisting of Abhay Bangi, Partner, Life Sciences & Healthcare Lead, Ernst & Young; Mohit Grover, Life Sciences & Healthcare Leader, Deloitte, and; Sabrina Tay, Partner and Deputy Industry Lead, Healthcare RSM Singapore.
