Dubai Health boosts pediatric heart care capacity with new CICU
It expands capacity for surgeries and cardiac procedures.
Dubai Health has opened a pediatric cardiac intensive care unit (CICU) at Al Jalila Children’s Hospital to strengthen specialised heart care for children.
The unit was established through Al Jalila Foundation’s Hope Fund, with support from Mohammed Abdullah Saleh.
Al Jalila Children’s Hospital currently performs approximately 200 pediatric cardiac surgeries each year, along with more than 300 cardiac catheterization procedures.
The addition of the unit is expected to further strengthen Dubai Health’s capacity to provide comprehensive and advanced cardiac care for children.
The hospital said CICU aligns with Dubai Health’s “Children First” strategy, emphasizing patient- and family-centered care.
Designed to support both patients and their families, the CICU allows parents to stay close to their children, featuring bedside accommodations and a dedicated family area.
Senior healthcare leaders and officials attended the inauguration, including Amer Sharif, CEO of Dubai Health and President of Mohammed Bin Rashid University of Medicine and Health Sciences; Abdulla Al Khayat; Amer Al Zarooni; Tarek Fathey; and Mohamed Al Awadhi.
