Singapore heart centre adopts new imaging tech to cut invasive diagnostics

It allowed clinicians to obtain clear images of coronary arteries with a single scan.

The National University Heart Centre, Singapore (NUHCS), deploys a new cardiac imaging technology to handle a high workload of complex cardiac cases.

Known as Photon-Counting Computed Tomography (PCCT), NUHCS said that this will allow the hospital to rely less on invasive diagnostics.

“With Singapore’s ageing population, we are seeing more patients with complex cardiac conditions who may not tolerate invasive coronary angiogram well,” James Yip, executive director and senior consultant at NUHCS, said.

According to the press release, the scanner allowed clinicians to obtain clear images of the patient’s coronary arteries using a single scan.
