New clinic at Seoul St. Mary's Hospital supports cancer survivors’ long-term care
Kidney cancer has been increasing amongst 30 to 50-year-olds.
Catholic University of Korea Seoul St. Mary's Hospital has opened the Kidney Cancer Survivor Health Clinic, aiming to provide long-term support for survivors after treatment.
According to the press release, kidney cancer has been increasing amongst 30 to 50-year-olds, and when detected early, chances of survival are over 90%.
Given this prognosis, the hospital saw it fit to manage various health issues, such as cardiovascular disease, metabolic disorders, and declining kidney function.
The hospital will introduce a smart healthcare programme that allows patients to input their daily health data via a dedicated health app and receive coaching from medical staff.
The clinic is available to patients who have undergone nephrectomy, maintained a stable course without recurrence for at least five years, and are eligible for outpatient follow-up.
