Kaikoukai Healthcare Group wins two awards at Healthcare Asia Awards 2026

The group’s integrated services drove 126% growth in international dialysis travel.

Kaikoukai Healthcare Group won Medical Tourism Hospital of the Year - Japan and Service Innovation of the Year - Japan at the Healthcare Asia Awards 2026.

The group’s success is built on more than a decade of providing comprehensive healthcare services for international patients. Demand has continued to grow for stronger support in language services, coordination, and travel logistics. In response, Kaikoukai Healthcare Group established a dedicated International Medical Division to manage everything from pre-arrival consultations to post-care follow-up.

Multilingual interpreters fluent in English, Chinese, Indonesian, Portuguese, and Spanish support patients throughout their hospital stay, ensuring clear communication and confidence at every step.

Japan is globally recognised for its leadership in preventive health check-ups, a foundation that contributes significantly to the country’s world-leading life expectancy. Kaikoukai Healthcare Group is particularly distinguished in diagnostic imaging, being the first in Japan to introduce PET-CT into clinical practice. The group now has 24 years of experience and over 200,000 scans. Investments in technology, standardised protocols, and continuous staff training have positioned the group at the forefront of early cancer detection.

Their facilities integrate MRI, CT, ultrasound, mammography, and endoscopy with PET-CT, enabling multi-angle diagnostic accuracy that surpasses single-modality limitations. Few centres in Japan rival Kaikoukai Healthcare Group’s in-house cyclotron for FDG production or its ammonia PET scan capabilities. The group also provides breast PET examinations, highly effective for dense breast tissue common amongst Asian women.

Kaikoukai Healthcare Group also serves as a major hub for travel dialysis patients from Taiwan, Singapore, Malaysia, Indonesia, the US, and Europe. Dialysis travellers often face logistical and emotional challenges abroad. To address these issues, the group launched the Nadaman Plan, which blends supervised dialysis, luxury accommodation at Nagoya Tokyu Hotel, low-sodium kaiseki meals curated by a registered dietitian from Nadaman restaurant, transportation, and interpreter support—allowing patients to receive treatment whilst enjoying a culturally rich experience.

Since April last year, travel dialysis inquiries have risen by 126%, and the International Medical Division continues to coordinate the plan to reduce stress for chronic patients and further boost medical tourism.

Expanding its focus beyond medical tourism, Kaikoukai Healthcare Group recognises the global need to expand Japan’s preventive healthcare culture. In Japan, annual health check-ups (kenshin) are widely available, enabling individuals to undergo full-body examinations even when they have no symptoms. This system plays a vital role in early detection and early treatment of diseases, contributing to overall national health outcomes.

As more people undergo preventive screenings around the world, early diagnosis becomes more achievable, reducing long-term health burdens and improving survival and quality of life. Promoting this culture internationally can greatly benefit global healthcare systems.

Looking ahead, Kaikoukai Healthcare Group aims to work closely with partners across various industries to develop innovative services that will help bring Japan’s preventive healthcare culture to the world. By combining multidisciplinary collaboration with the group’s extensive medical expertise, Kaikoukai seeks to create a future in which preventive care becomes a global standard.
