Bangkok Hospital Ratchasima brings home win at Healthcare Asia Awards 2026

Its initiative ensures that coordinated emergency care and multidisciplinary follow-up support patient recovery.

Bangkok Hospital Ratchasima emerged victorious with the Public-private Healthcare Partnership of the Year - Thailand accolade at the Healthcare Asia Awards 2026 for its success in strengthening referral systems and collaborating with community hospitals across Nakhon Ratchasima Province to ensure that percutaneous coronary interventions (PCI) are performed within 120 minutes to treat ischemic heart disease.

This initiative comes as an assessment of patient access and treatment timeliness for the hospital revealed that PCI treatment often exceeded 120 minutes. Data from 2022 to 2024 also showed that 32 patients were referred from community hospitals for PCI, with 88% experiencing door-to-balloon times greater than 120 minutes.

The contributing factors included delays at the emergency department (56.8%), delays during inter-hospital transfer processes (87.5%), an overall mortality rate of 3% in-hospital and out-of-hospital, as well as insufficient understanding amongst patient relatives regarding PCI treatment (31%).

As time within the PCI is a critical period, the initiative also emphasises that patients receive urgent and coordinated care to reduce myocardial damage, lower mortality, and minimise complications. Following treatment, patients can continue self-care at home with support from multidisciplinary follow-up visits, helping them return to daily life with confidence and safety.
