Thailand’s BDMS to launch proton therapy centre for complex cancers
Services are expected to start in 2029.
Thaniland’s Bangkok Dusit Medical Services has started development of the ‘Bangkok Proton Center’ at Wattanosoth Cancer Hospital.
The centre will use proton therapy, which delivers high-energy proton particles directly to cancer cells, minimising damage to surrounding healthy tissue.
The technology is designed for complex cancers, including brain and spinal tumours, as well as paediatric cases.
The project is in collaboration with Medical Excellence JAPAN and the Economic Research Institute for ASEAN and East Asia, with support from the Japanese government.
Construction, equipment installation, and staff training are expected to take three to four years, with services expected to begin in 2029.
