Christchurch Hospital completes cardiac cath lab upgrade
The project includes a newly built third laboratory.
Christchurch Hospital’s cardiac catheterisation laboratory upgrades have been completed, according to New Zealand Health Minister Simeon Brown.
The project includes three laboratories: one upgraded with new equipment in 2021, a second upgraded earlier this year, and a newly built third lab.
The expansion increased capacity, with an additional three sessions over 1.5 days provided each week.
“These additional sessions are already helping to reduce waitlists and provide patients with faster access to treatment,” Brown said.
The facilities also feature advanced imaging and diagnostic systems. Upgrades have also reduced radiation exposure and improved workflow efficiency.
