Most child vaccination schemes require full prepayment in HK
Prices range from $3,000 to $14,680.
Nearly 95% of private child vaccination schemes require full prepayment, according to a Consumer Council report.
Prices varied widely across the schemes, ranging from $3,000 to $14,680. Each scheme offered between two to six types of vaccines, with four to 12 doses for injections and two to three oral doses.
Meanwhile, out of 19 schemes reviewed from nine service providers, 18 — offered by eight providers — required full prepayment. One provider allowed parents to pay by dose and offered a seven-day cooling-off period.
“Three service providers explicitly stated during the survey that consumers who wish to consult a doctor before purchase would be required to pay an additional charge,” the Consumer Council said.
Higher-priced schemes did not always include more types of vaccines, even within the same service provider.
