Australia invests $3.05m for Launceston General Hospital surgical robot

The tech will be used for urological, gynaecological, and other precision procedures.

The Australian government is investing $3.05m (A$4.7m) to introduce a new surgical robot at the Launceston General Hospital in Tasmania.

The system will be used to perform urological, gynaecological, and other precision procedures.

Moreover, the technology will also be used to assist patients with endometriosis, according to Health Minister Jacquie Petrusma.

“The robot will support improved clinical outcomes for patients, shorter recovery times and reduced length of hospital stay – which in turn will support improved bed access, patient flow and reducing surgical waits," Petrusma added.
