New $577m Melton Hospital build moves forward in Victoria, Australia
The facility is slated to be the state’s first fully electric hospital.
The new $577m (A$900m) Melton Hospital in Victoria has progressed with the completion of critical site preparation works, according to the Australian Government.
The hospital, to be located on Ferris Road in Melton, will be Victoria’s first fully electric hospital.
It is designed to meet rising healthcare demand in Melbourne’s western suburbs, serving communities in Melton, Caroline Springs, Rockbank, Bacchus Marsh, and Gisborne.
The facility is expected to treat up to 130,000 patients annually once fully operational by 2029.
The new hospital is also expected to ease pressure on nearby hospitals, including Sunshine Hospital and the future $961.1m (A$1.5b) Footscray Hospital.
Major construction will begin soon following the completion of early works.
