Australia’s mammography equipment market to grow 7% annually through 2034
The country accounted for 4% of the APAC market in 2024.
Australia’s mammography equipment market is expected to grow at a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 7% through 2034, according to GlobalData.
The report said that Australia made up around 4% of the total Asia-Pacific market in 2024.
Medical Devices Analyst Aditi Dakshesh Parikh said imaging systems are improving in resolution and efficiency, but new diagnostic tools are now playing a key role in improving screening accuracy—especially for patients where mammography alone may fall short.
One such tool is BREASTEST plus, a new blood test from BCAL Diagnostics. The test uses liquid chromatography mass spectrometry to detect lipid markers associated with breast cancer and is designed for women with dense breast tissue, where mammograms can be less reliable.
The test helps rule out cancer in low-risk patients, supporting better use of imaging resources and reducing unnecessary follow-ups.
Parikh said combining blood-based diagnostics with imaging is helping deliver more precise and earlier breast cancer detection, ultimately improving patient outcomes.
