KMI Healthcare and KMI Taman Desa Medical Centre shine at Healthcare Asia Awards 2025
They received two prestigious honours for excellence in customer service and healthcare delivery in Malaysia.
KMI Healthcare has once again proven its leadership in the healthcare industry by winning two prestigious accolades at the Healthcare Asia Awards 2025. The group was named Customer Service Initiative of the Year - Malaysia, whilst its KMI Taman Desa Medical Centre was recognised as the Secondary Hospital of the Year - Malaysia. These wins underscore the organisation's unwavering commitment to quality care, innovation and patient-centred service.
KMI Taman Desa was recognised as Secondary Hospital of the Year - Malaysia, reflecting its commitment to quality healthcare, community engagement and patient-centred initiatives. Over the past year, KMI Taman Desa has strengthened its services, achieving significant growth and earning recognition from various entities.
Beyond accolades, KMI Taman Desa has actively contributed to public health by organising community health screenings, expanding vaccination services and promoting medical education. Its Medical Symposium 2024, themed “Empowering Patients: The Heart of Primary Care,” gathered healthcare professionals to advance patient care practices. To further enhance service quality, KMI Taman Desa introduced Creating Exceptional Patient Experiences (CXP) Month, reinforcing its dedication to better healthcare outcomes and patient satisfaction.
KMI Healthcare has built a strong reputation as a trusted healthcare provider in Malaysia, operating five flagship hospitals: KMI Kuantan Medical Centre, KMI Kuala Terengganu Medical Centre, KMI Taman Desa Medical Centre, KMI Kelana Jaya Medical Centre, and KMI Tawau Medical Centre. It provides a wide range of medical services, including inpatient and outpatient care, surgical procedures and emergency services.
A key unique selling proposition of its purpose-built hospitals is the provision of single-bedded rooms for all patients. Currently, KMI Kuantan and KMI Kuala Terengganu Medical Centre exemplify this distinctive feature, emphasising privacy and minimising infection risks through their single-bedded room design. Additionally, the hospitals are strategically situated within communities, fostering strong patient relationships and enabling the group to customise services to address specific health needs and cultural preferences.
“Our focus on excellence extends beyond clinical care; it encompasses every aspect of the patient journey, from the initial consultation to post-treatment follow-ups,” KMI Healthcare stated. “KMI Healthcare invests in cutting-edge technology, streamlined processes and staff training to enhance efficiency and reduce wait times.”
As part of its initiatives to integrate cultural and religious sensitivities into its medical practices, KMI Healthcare launched the Hospital Mesra Ibadah initiative. This initiative includes prayer facilities, qibla signage, prayer kits and staff training in religious customs, enabling Muslim patients to observe their faith comfortably during treatment. “Comprehensive e-books are available to guide patients in observing their religious practices with confidence,” KMI Healthcare added.
The group also collaborated with Universiti Teknologi Petronas to develop a Shariah-compliant hospital framework, further reinforcing its commitment to patient-centred care.
Looking forward, the hospital group plans to introduce new sub-specialties, expand specialised care services and further enhance patient-centred initiatives.
This is not the first time KMI Healthcare has been recognised at the Healthcare Asia Awards, as it already received two accolades at the Healthcare Asia Awards 2023 for Patient Care Initiative of the Year - Malaysia and Service Delivery Innovation Initiative of the Year - Malaysia.
