Chang Gung Memorial Hospital, Linkou scores win at Healthcare Asia Awards 2025

It has set industry benchmarks for microbiome-based therapies in Taiwan, serving patients aged 3 to 99.

Chang Gung Memorial Hospital, Linkou received the Service Innovation of the Year - Taiwan category win at the coveted Healthcare Asia Awards 2025 for continuously transforming healthcare through its microbiota therapy excellence.

Since its establishment in 2019, the Chang Gung Microbiota Therapy Centre (CGMTC) has set the benchmark for excellence in microbiome-based therapies in Taiwan. Renowned for its innovative approaches and cutting-edge research, CGMTC has completed over 280 fecal microbiota transplantation (FMT) procedures—more than any other centre in the region—serving patients aged 3 to 99.

These treatments address a wide array of challenging and treatment-resistant conditions, including recurrent Clostridioides difficile infections, multidrug-resistant organism carriage, inflammatory bowel disease, autism, Parkinson’s disease, immune checkpoint therapy failures, and grade IV acute gastrointestinal graft-versus-host disease.

With an outstanding 91% success rate for recurrent or refractory Clostridioides difficile infections, the centre has solidified its reputation as a trusted provider of transformative microbiota therapies. Its expertise in handling complex cases and achieving consistent success highlights its position as a leader in advanced microbiota therapy techniques.

CGMTC has also conducted Taiwan’s first clinical trials targeting neurodegenerative diseases, autism, and metabolic disorders. Its fecal bank is the most advanced in Taiwan, ensuring the safe and efficient distribution of microbiota transplant materials across the island. This robust infrastructure enables timely access to innovative therapies, providing equitable healthcare delivery even in remote areas.

The centre’s holistic approach integrates dietary interventions with microbiota therapies, fostering comprehensive and long-lasting health benefits for patients. This has allowed its international reputation to grow rapidly, attracting patients worldwide for its specialised treatments. Its expertise and collaborative spirit have earned the trust of international patients and medical professionals alike.

“CGMTC exemplifies excellence, innovation, and leadership in microbiota therapy. As Taiwan’s largest and most comprehensive institution for microbiota-based treatments, CGMTC combines unparalleled clinical experience with a robust safety record. Its extensive fecal microbiota bank supports a diverse patient demographic and addresses some of the most intractable medical challenges,” the company said.

Chang Gung Memorial Hospital, Linkou currently boasts 3,458 beds, providing care for around 2.7 million people annually through inpatient, outpatient, and emergency room visits.
