Taipei Medical University Hospital rolls out blockchain record-keeping platform

It will improve the patient referral system.

Taipei Medical University Hospital, one of Taiwan's largest medical centers, has launched a blockchain-based healthcare platform.

The Healthcare Blockchain Platform is designed to improve patient referral services and integrate individual healthcare networks, making it easier to access medical care records.

It is the result of a collaboration between over 100 community-based clinics. The technology will address common stumbling blocks such as the physician referral process, transfer of data between medical institutions and personal patient portals.

The platform will provide a patient's complete set of all their medical records, including high-resolution medical images, lab results, and clinical and health exam information.

The records can be accessed through a password-protected mobile app.

The Healthcare Blockchain Platform was developed as part of the government’s Hierarchical Medical System policy.
